Mr William Towaipi is the General Manager - Marketing of Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited (Kumul Petroleum), formerly National Petroleum Company PNG Holdings Limited.
William joined Kumul Petroleum in 2010 just after PNG LNG was sanctioned in December 2009 and entering construction phase. Being ‘State Nominee’, the project in effect gave birth to Kumul and William was one of the first employees recruited. William is currently General Manager, Marketing responsible for setting up Kumul’s marketing organisation since January 2024 covering gas/LNG, crude oil and condensate exports as well as import of refined products.
Kumul delivered its first equity LNG cargo in April 2024 and has sold further cargoes since including concluding 2-year strip deal with Chevron in November 2024. William previously worked with the ExxonMobil-led PNG LNG marketing team in 2017 for 2-years as a secondee from Kumul and later the TotalEnergies joint marketing team from 2021 to mid-2023 offering Papua LNG long term volumes to the market. William has held other finance and commercial roles in Kumul and being involved in various activities from capital raising, upstream project evaluations and M&A activities. Prior to joining Kumul, William previously worked for PwC.
